I'm so excited! This morning I got to visit a goat farm coop. There are mommy goats and their kids, and if I join the coop I get to help take care of them and milk them, and keep the milk! Since we can't eat cow dairy, we eat a lot of goat dairy. I'm so excited to have fresh milk, and to make my own cheeses and yogurts with it. The goats like being milked, they come running in and hop up to snack on grains while they're being milked. Their kids are still nursing, so the milk is shared with them and they all seem so happy and healthy. What a wonderful situation. I'm so excited to have discovered this opportunity. I wish we all could spend a little time getting to know our food sources like this. I think there would be a lot less cruelty to animals and a lot healthier food if we had more farm coops. It is hard work though, so not for everybody. I brought Benny with me, and I'm looking forward to having my kids grow up understanding a little more about where food comes from. In fact, I think it might be time to start my veggie garden too. Life is good.
